    About the Director. Igor Nemirovsky was born in in Crimea and spent his childhood and youth in Odessa and St. Petersburg. He received an M.A. from Tartu University, where he studied with Yuri Lotman and Boris Gasparov, and a Ph.D. from the Institute of Russian Literature (Pushkinskii Dom, St. Petersburg), where he worked as a researcher from This book examines the often-ignored or forgotten contributions that women writers have made to Russian literature. While scholars of other literatures have been recovering women's contributions since the women's movement of the s, in Russian literature we have only recently begun the process.
